FAQs

The Char Dham Yatra is a sacred pilgrimage in Uttarakhand that covers four holy shrines — Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath, and Badrinath — representing the spiritual sources of India’s four sacred rivers.

The Yatra generally opens in April/May and closes by October/November, depending on temple opening dates. The best months are May to June and September to early October, avoiding monsoon rains.

A typical Char Dham Yatra from Delhi takes around 10 to 12 days by road, covering all four shrines and key destinations like Haridwar, Rishikesh, Guptkashi, and Srinagar.

The journey involves mountain roads and treks — especially to Yamunotri (6 km) and Kedarnath (16–18 km). However, facilities like ponies, palkis, and helicopters make it accessible for most devotees.

Yes, many senior citizens and families undertake the Yatra safely. It’s recommended to choose a comfortable vehicle, take rest breaks, and consult a doctor before traveling to high altitudes.

You’ll find budget, deluxe, and luxury hotels or guesthouses at all major halts such as Barkot, Uttarkashi, Guptkashi, and Badrinath. Some remote areas have simple lodges or dharamshalas.

Yes, helicopter services are available from Phata, Sersi, or Guptkashi to Kedarnath, and some full Char Dham packages offer VIP helicopter tours covering all four temples.

Carry warm clothes, comfortable trekking shoes, rain gear, woolen socks, first-aid kit, and essential medicines. Keep ID proofs and photocopies handy.
